  • Closed to the public
  • Animal redemptions will be done m-f by appointment only
  • Officers will continue to respond to emergency and high priority calls including: law enforcement assistance, bite complaints, confirmed cruelty cases, and aggressive/dangerous animal behavior.
  • Therefore Officers will suspend/limit low priority and non-emergency activity. This includes: non-aggressive stray animal pick-up, licensing complaints, nuisance complaints, trapping/transport of community stray cats and wildlife.

  • Shelter intake reduction: BCAC is taking active measures to reduce non-essential shelter stray intake and restricting/suspending non-emergency owner surrender intake.

  • Please note our Officers will make every effort to not “have to” enter a home of anyone who has been questionably exposed to the virus.
  • As for our loyal & dedicated volunteers: We are currently only allowing (4) **established** volunteers to walk/socialize the animals, at this time.

Berrien Bus

  • Effective Wednesday, March 18th, suspending all scheduled flex route services until further notice.
  • At this time, still operating demand response services but ask that customers limit their request to essential services only such as:
    • Medial appointments
    • Grocery shopping
    • Employment

Friend of the Court - S.M.I.L.E. Program

  • The following classes are cancelled:

Parks & Recreation - Love Creek

  • Nature Center and Bike Rental closed until further notice
  • Trails: Open from dawn until dusk
  • Frog-Watch event on March 28th & April 3rd postponed until further notice

Parks & Recreation - Madeline Bertrand County Park

  • Madeline Bertrand County Park is closed temporarily in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All facilities within the park are closed by order of the Berrien County Parks/ Recreation Commission including trails, disc golf course and playground.

Parks & Recreation - Recycling

Prosecuting Attorney’s Office

  • Though Berrien County Trial Court operations are suspended, the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office will remain operating for essential court functions including:
    • Felony Preliminary Exams
    • Matter Specifically Pertaining to In-Custody Defendants

  • Temporary extension of deadline to redeem property for nonpayment of delinquent property taxes.
  • The foreclosure date has been extended until May 29, 2020 or 30 days after termination of the state of emergency.
