History of BCSD

Welcome to the Berrien County Sheriff's Department History and Photo pages!

History is constantly creating itself and when you want to know where you are going, you must look at where you came from.  We hope that this section will give us all a glimpse of just that.

Many of the photos and documentation found on these pages have been given by members of the community, family, current and former employees of the Sheriff's Department. We appreciate the opportunity to share our colorful history and proud tradition of the many men and women who have walked the halls of the Berrien County Sheriff's Department.

Special thanks to the Herald-Palladium for use of their photo and newspaper archives.  For those who remember, this also includes The News-Palladium and The Herald-Press who are what we know today as The Herald-Palladium.

If you have items of interest to share, photos or stories, please feel free to contact Berrien County Sheriff's Department Historian Chriss Lyon at clyon@berriencounty.org.
