One of three felons who escaped from Jackson County Sheriff Deputies was captured by Berrien County Sheriff's Deputies in a corn crib on Holden Road near Galien on July 25, 1973. Another escapee was captured as he jumped down from the back steps of the house and the third was shot in the ankle when he refused to stop running on command from Deputy Dan Russell. Visable in photo behind back of squad car are Chief Deputy Don Jewell to the left and Lt. Ron Schalon to the right.
