The goal of the Detective Bureau is to identify perpetrators of criminal acts and provide for the successful prosecution through the presentation of evidence in a court of law. Therefore, the primary functions of the Detective Bureau are criminal investigation, collection and preservation of evidence and court room testimony.
The Detective Bureau often works in conjunction with the road patrol officers to help each unit meet their goals of solving crimes and arresting those who have committed crimes.
Detectives in the Criminal Investigation Unit have received advanced training in criminal sexual conduct cases as well as in computer forensics.
